Sand People

This is one of an ensemble of masks I created for Brenda Varda’s Liquid, which performed at the Unknown Theatre in summer of 2009. These were brainwashed people forced to use the mask machine to filter oil away from sand from a nearby spill in order to preserve every last drop of oil. Political much? The design was based off of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. This was very creepy: eight of us in these masks with a hooded robe and a portable fluorescent light. Spooky!
